Summary

Latent is a voice recording and transcription app that prioritizes your privacy. Audio transcription happens entirely on your device. We do not collect, store, or sell your personal data.

What Data Stays on Your Device

• Audio recordings — stored locally on your device, never uploaded
• Transcripts — generated on-device using WhisperKit (OpenAI Whisper for Apple Silicon)
• Recording metadata — titles, durations, timestamps stored in your device's local database

What Data Is Sent to Our Servers

• Transcript text — sent to our AI proxy server to generate summaries and titles. The text is processed and immediately discarded. We do not store your transcripts on our servers.
• Anonymous device identifier — a random ID used to manage your free tier usage quota. This ID is not linked to your name, email, or Apple ID.

What We Do NOT Collect

• No email addresses
• No names or personal information
• No location data
• No analytics or tracking
• No advertising identifiers
• No audio files (audio never leaves your device)

Third-Party Services

• Google Gemini API — used to generate AI summaries from transcript text. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Apple CloudKit — used for anonymous user identification. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
• Apple StoreKit — used for subscription management. Handled entirely by Apple.

Data Retention

We do not retain any user data on our servers. Transcript text sent for AI summarization is processed in real-time and not stored.

Children's Privacy

Latent is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
